The Summer 2006 BoftheBB Painting ChallengeWell, the contest ended with Brother Carl being the big winner on points, and Brother Terry the big winner on number of figs painted. we had fun, so we'll do it again sometime next year. A few summers ago some of the Brothers and a guest had a painting contest that stressed quantity more than quality. Brother Johnson wants to do it again. The contest will run from 15 June 2006 - the end of August. We will probably have a cookout/gameday or something to fete the winners. If you are interested in taking part contact either Brother Johnson or Brother Bob. The rules - basically you get points for each figure you get painted. You report what you get done to Brother Bob and he'll update the standings. You get points as follows:
2006-08-18 Brother Paul finishes his season. He reports "I finished the Chinese and they are ready to run amok tomorrow. 9 hard charging cavalry figures and 15 more infantry. These are 15 mm. I also finished 2 20 mm Rev War guys and a 25 mm War of the Roses infantryman." - 40 points. Brother Carl concludes his summer painting season by completing 36 25mm Great Northern War Grenadiers - 108 points. 2006-08-16 Brother Johnson finished one 25mm British Officer for his Gurkha's, two 25mm tents and assorted 25mm baggage - 12 points. 2006-08-15 Brother Terry completes some 6mm ACW stuff 17 Mounted Union Generals 5 Mounted Standard Bearers 60 various Union Infantry Earning 52 points. 2006-08-14 Brother Johnson finished 10 more 25mm Ghurkas - 30 points. 2006-08-14 Brother Paul reports: In 15 mm: 27 Medieval French infantry; 2 ancient Spanish cavalry; 4 medieval French mounted knights; 4 pre-Islamic Arabs so I can morph my nomads into their more settled cousins; 4 Berber archers; 2 Greek psiloi; 8 Scottish pikeman (as part of the "Auld Alliance" and as a sublist for my Medieval Irish); 18 Chinese Infantry and 5 Chinese Cavalry (trying to get this army finished for Saturday I wish I could paint as fast as Carl!). In 20 mm 8 infantry from the American Revolution. In 25 mm 3 War of the Roses Mounted Knights and 8 infantry. 1 54 mm Hundred years War infantryman. Oh yeah, and one 15 mm German Kubelwagon. He reports "I'm getting tired of blue but only a 200 or so more to go and then on to gray". He also has finished some 1/1200 scale WWII British Ships: 3 K Class Destroyers 3 Flower Class Corvettes (in Western Approaches camouflage) 1 Dido Class AA Crusier (in Western Approaches camouflage) Earning a total of 95 points. 2006-07-16 Brother carl finished 24 25mm Russian Great Northern Infantry - earning 72 points. Brother Paul reports 15 15 mm cavalry (Feudal French knights), 14 20 mm British, a 54 mm Hundred Year's War foot soldier, and a 54 mm mounted Crusader. Earning 25 points. 2006-07-10 Brother Terry completes another 120 ACW US Regulars (6mm) garnering another 60 points. 2006-07-07 Brother Paul reports finishing 18 20mm American infantry, patriots all = 36 points 4 54 mm American paratroopers = 20 points And last but not least, 4 pimped out Egyptian chariots for Mike Redelf's DBA army = 12 points For a total of 68 points. 2006-07-05 Brother Carl finished 54 15mm SYW Hungarian Line Infantry for 54 points. He reports that he is "pretty much done with the Austrians. Another project done. 25 more to go". 2006-07-03 Brother Terry finished up another 120 6mm ACW Union Infantry for 60 points. Brother Carl painted 9 mounted Austrian SYW Generals and 5 dismounted Generals. Brother Paul finished 13 20mm American Militia (in celebration of Independence day) and a 15mm Pict ("Woads" if you are a King Arthur fan) DBA Army consisting of 1 chariot, 4 Cav, and 28 infantry - for a total of 65 points. Earning 76 points. 2006-06-21 Brother Paul completes 29 x 15mm Egyptian Infantry for a DBA army, a 15mm Warwagon and 6 15mm Knights for a Communal Italian DBA army. Earning a whopping 44 points. Brother Johnson completes 6 x 25mm mountain gun crewman. 18 points. Brother Kurt finishes 1 x 25mm badger, 1 x 25mm female gnome, 1 x 25mm Sci Fi ship crewman. 9 points Brother Bob finished 3 x 25mm reaper undead (a spectre, a wraith, and a liche). 9 points. 2006-06-19 Brother Bob reports 2 x 28mm Reaper Warlord Crusader Lion's Lancers and 2 x 28mm Reaper Crusader war dogs getting him 16 points.
